How-do-you-do,

Can anyone guide me virtually a method (gratuitous and effective) for converting handdrawn excursion diagrams on a paper to a digital format (which later can be used in discussion etc)? Not scanning.
or
How can 1 draw a circuit diagram directly in Give-and-take using only a mouse?

Thanks

OpenOffice comes with OfficeDraw..... I use information technology to create all sorts..

I use LTspice for circuit simulation. You can use information technology just to draw schematics if y'all want to. After the schematic is drawn, capture it with a screen capture tool (Windows 7 comes with the Snipping Tool), and salve it as a PNG file. You tin can do further editing with something like Microsoft Paint. When you're ready, just insert information technology into Word.

Word was non designed to do that.
Word can import many formats. Similar Roff said; screen capture.

LTSpice itself has a schematic capturing tool for fast process than 'Print Screen SysRq' feature of Windows (fast because nosotros don't need remove starting time button, task bar, card bar etc unnecessary images captured past 'print screen' of windows).

Just draw a schematic and go to Tool>Copy bitmap to Clipboard, then paste information technology to MS Paint (or anywhere).

I set white background and black wires (from Tool> color Preferences) to give typical looks to schematics. Easy thing from LTSpice is that we don't need to mark R1 R2 R3 etc.

Probably it's not possible to catechumen handdrawn diagram directly to digital format as you said. You need to redraw whole schematic again in a schematic designer programme.
How can 1 depict a circuit diagram directly in Word using but a mouse?
Don't you accept a keyboard? How will y'all write component marking then? Turning ON the 'on screen keyboard' of windows (Start>Accessories>...) is a equivalent of real keyboard but it's not piece of cake as real keyboard. If you draw a schematic in a MS word (?) directly using mouse then you won't sympathise your ain schematic or it will take hours.

If y'all take a calculator then simply download ExpressPCB which has layout and schematic design tool. Easy to use and it's also complimentary. Or download LTSpice and do equally said on previous posts. Both are free software and both have around just 10MB file size.

How-do-you-do there,

I've seen this question come up about iii or 4 times in the past 10 years. That seems infrequent, but i think that is because most people only assume that it cant be done and so they dont even ask. But and so again, it has come up, and i have thought most information technology a footling myself considering i had many paw drawings of circuits from the past that would be nice to take converted into pure digital format, complete with neat and tidy symbols for all the components like resistors and capacitors and transistors.

There are two direct ways to practise this that i know of, if you dont demand it to be in a perfectly neat form like a drawing that originated in software such every bit in LT Spice.

The get-go is to scan it with a fast scanner. This creates a drawing that is exactly similar the paw drawing.
The second is to use a high resolution camera. I recommend at least ten Megapixels. You accept a snapshot, shop in in some directory.

Of class these techniques are not platonic either. We go a drawing that is simply as sloppy as the original. To get it into a really nice and neat course still brings in some problems.

First, non everyone draws symbols the same. Some draw inductors that wait like resistors, and some describe caps differently.

Second, the drawing would have to be scanned or photographed start anyway. Once this is done however there may be a manner to convert it into a really not bad professionally drawn schematic.

The question that comes to my mind though is, just how much would we need this? If it was an everyday affair it would exist worth it to come up with some software slice that could translate the drawing and arrange everything into a neatly drawn schematic. I am of course talking about fairly sloppy mitt drawings not professionally drafted pencil drawn schematics that already accept a neat and orderly class. At that place would non exist much to a plan that tin convert the latter into a minimum byte count file with a neat line cartoon. The sloppy drawings would be hard to catechumen considering the components can be all over the identify, with connecting lines looping over and nether things hither and there and everywhere. There would have to be some software/human interaction i would gauge.

It would be an interesting program to write. For drawings that are already peachy information technology would be a snap, just for the sloppy drawings very hard. I have to wonder if anyone has made this kind of software yet.

For my own purposes i have institute that if the drawing is scanned or photographed and tehn converted into a .gif file, information technology doesnt accept up a significant number of bytes. Yeah it's non whatever better looking than the original unless i edit information technology past hand later. Sometimes a few niggling edits nonetheless and the drawing looks much amend.

How can ane draw a circuit diagram straight in Word using just a mouse?

hi,
It tin can be done directly, but it is laborious.
I would recommend copy and paste, I employ Screen Hunter 5, a gratuitous download of a screen prune and paste.

As shown past Eric y'all can use Word's cartoon tools.

You said, "effective", improve then go for LTSpice. Maybe you try to go the "piece of cake" way just that will hateful wasting time drawing again and again the aforementioned basic things.

Welcome to ETO, Raji Koshy!

What do y'all utilize at present? Have you transitioned to a circuit simulator?

Raji Koshy,

one)There are several PCB layout programs that are free. While you do not want to make a printed circuit board, they include a schematic depict function.
2)LTspice is free. It draws schematics.

Example: Using LT SPICE I drew a schematic. Sized the picture show and centered so "Alt Print Screen" to steel what is on the screen. Next I opened Paint. (I employ pint.net which is free) "Crtl C" to re-create the screen moving-picture show to paint. My pigment complains the picture is big. Click OK. Now in hurting in that location is what my screen looks like merely I don't want all that. I use the select tool to take hold of merely what I want to copy to Give-and-take. "select and re-create" which is but like Ctrl C. Then flip to work and "Crtl V" which is paste. I inserted it hither to evidence you.

In discussion I can brand the text menstruum around the picture or nether or over the schematic.

Here I used Eagle CAD to draw. Then copied to the Forum.

WORD does not do schematics but it handles picture show files very well. So what I am doing is making a "picture" of my schematic.

Late reply, but I use Paint Shop Pro with the grid lock assail and a handful of pre-drawn components. Works very well for pocket-size diagrams, eg this and this.

Tardily answer, but I utilise Paint Store Pro with the grid lock assault and a handful of pre-drawn components. Works very well for small diagrams, eg this and this.

Corking idea. How does Paint Shop Pro do on schematic capture to assure the schematic and board are consistent?

As far I take tested out - of all drawing programs that is non made specific to brand electric drawings, I'll recommend to avoid pixel-editing programs like MS pigment, photoshop, pigment store pro, etc. Information technology'southward just also laborious when need to alter anything afterwards.
Use cad programs instead - personally I prefer Inkscape (my resistor avatar is fatigued using that programme).

Since Corel bought out Jasc software it has become expensive.... I still have a re-create of Paint Shop Pro V5 but it'due south very outdated... As I in one case said fashion dorsum.. Open office and Libre role accept vector drawing tools and tons more.. Non bad for free..

In the days when I made my money doing training courses, I drew many simple schematics both electrical and hydraulic using the cartoon facilities of MS PowerPoint.
These schematics were easily imported into MS Word.

All the same for a circuitous schematic, one of the defended schematic capture software packages would be much easier to use and give a improve result.
